Forgotten Maharaja Jagatjit Singh’s Rest House in Bhunga

Bhunga Parghana of Kapurthala Princely State consisted of 24 villages which were administered by the administration of the Kapurthala state adminstration. Post Independence the area was merged into the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. In the village Bhunga, a rest house of Maharaja Jagatjit Singh was there, which is covering around fifty acres of land. In this land the gardens of mango, orange and many other types of fruits used to be there. It also had a stable in which the horses and elephants were kept. Maharaja used to take the ride of elephant surrounded by his army.
The border of the Bhunga parghana is defined on the Hoshiarpur Dasuya road. Border is defined at Dosarhka and on the other side at Hariana. The main villages of the parghana were, Bhunga, Dhootan, Chotala, Sotla, Kang Mai and many more villages. Schools, Police Station, and other administrative offices were under the administration of Kapurthala Princely State.
Maharaja used to visit Bhunga parghana and stay in the rest house and go for hunting. The rest house have the two photographs of the Maharaja Jagatjit Singh and his adminstration of Bhunga parghana. A dressing table and a coat stand of Maharaja, which is placed in the living room was brought from Germany. Fireplace is built in every room of the rest house. Good architectural work is done in the rest house and is built in British Style.
It was well maintained by the then administration but at present the rest house is left mismanaged. The rest house and the 50 acres of land is under the Department of Horticulture, Punjab. The condition of the rest house is deteriorating day by day. The stable of the horses and elephants have also been destroyed by the department of horticulture.
At present, Department of Horticulture has the gardens of mangoes, litchi, guavas, peach and many other fruits. The friut nursery is also there, where the department prepare the fruit plants and sell it to the farmers. The workers use the rest house to have rest and sleep during night.

Mindset can't be changed, Crime can only be curved by harsh punishment

Mindset can't be changed, Crime can only be curved by harsh punishment

Moral values are cultivated right from the birth in the human beings. It is very difficult to cultivate them when a human being has grown as an adult. A criminal cannot cultivate moral values and he is a threat to the society where he lives in. The mindset of such people cannot be changed but they can be pressurized not to commit any crime by awarding harsh punishments. Fear of harsh punishment and fast conviction of the serious crime is only the way out to curve the crime in the country.

Lets discuss the crime against women in the past few months. Jyoti murder case in Panchkulla, ASI murder who came for the rescue of his daughter from the eve-teasers in Amritsar, Delhi rape case, Patiala rape case, Gurdasspur rape case and many more such crimes have come into lime light in the past few months. A daughter was killed in a village of Hoshiarpur by the parents for false pride of caste because she wanted to marry a boy of SC community. It shows the mindset of the people and their fearlessness from the judiciary system.

People don't fear the judiciary because they know that they can easily cheat the judicial system and get escaped from the criminal cases against them.

The remedy for such crimes is to change the mindset of the people. But its very difficult or we can even say that it is impossible to change the mindset of the people.

The only way out is to award harsh punishments to the criminals with the least time of trials in the court. There should be no leniency towards the criminals. People with criminal mindset should be behind the bars. They have no right to move freely. They can only harm the society.

Fast convictions and harsh punishments by the court will create fear in the minds of the people and the people cannot even think of committing any crime. The best example of this is Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia provide harsh punishments to the criminals and hence the crime ratio is very less over there.

India must think about this.... Readers comments are welcome.

Fast conviction will help curve crime

An Additional Sessions Court of Justice J.S. Bhinder in Hoshiarpur convicted the kidnapping and rape accused in just 9 days after the charge-sheet was filed in the court. The charge-sheet was filed in the court on 2nd January, 2013 and the judgement was announced on 10th January, 2013 awarding 10 years of imprisonment and imposing Rs. 90,000 of fine which include the compensation of Rs. 40,000 to the victim. The matter was that a 17 year old girl of Garhshankar was kidnapped by a UP resident, Pawan Dubey and after that he raped her for months.

No doubt in this matter, the judgement came very quickly, there are also the criminals who are moving freely on bail when their cases are under trial from years. The criminals are not convicted fastly by the court because of many reasons but this slow judiciary, somehow give courage to the criminals to commit crime and move freely till any judgement is passed. Those criminals from whose minds the fear of Judcial System has vanished, they are threat for the society. These people got courage from the slow and helpless Judiciary System of our country. They know that nothing will happen to them in court.

One of the reason of the slow Judiciary System is that the number of judges are very less in the country. The load of cases on a single judge is huge. For better Judiciary System we need to have more 1,00,000 judges in the country. Then we can ensure better judiciary system and fast convictions. Which will create a fear in the minds of criminals and also help curve the crime in the country.
