Awaring people on road safety is a praiseworthy step of Hoshiarpur Police

Hoshiarpur Police celebrated Road Safety Week from 11th January to 17th January and awared people about the road safety norms and traffic rules. Even many other praiseworthy steps have been taken to prevent accidents, post accident management and helping the citizens during any inconvenience on road, like tyre puncture or vehicle failure. Hoshiarpur Police is going to launch Helplines for ambulances and vehicle mechanics shortly. Traffic committees have been formed in the educational institutions comprising of teachers and students who would look up the traffic system in the institution and outside the institution. Same formula has been applied for the workers of the factories in the district.
These all steps are welcoming steps for the road safety only if these steps are applied practically on the grass root level.
On the other hand, all these steps taken are incomplete without the involvement of Transport department that issue driving licenses and pass the motor vehicles. It is the ground reality that the driving test of applicants for driving test is not conducted by the Motor Vehicle Inspector and he signs the forms and the applicant is issued the license. Till the right procedure of issuing the driving license is not followed, road safety awareness does not have any importance. The applicants of license should be taught about the traffic rules and road safety norms in special compulsory classes before issuing the license then the awareness becomes a continuous process.

General Public is the soft target to be harassed in order to register the protests

It is generally seen that the political parties and other organizations block roads or instal bandhs in order to register their protests against the Government or some other issue. In road blocks or bandhs, the General Public get  harassed badly. It was seen on Thursday, when the workers and leaders of Congress blocked the roads across state for 2 hours demanding CBI inquiry against Bikramjit Singh Majithia. Though the leaders of Congress sought pardon from the public for inconvenience, but the Public was very much irritated and said that the Police must take action against such people.

It is very true that the political parties must become mature and responsible enough that during their protest, they do not abuse the fundamental right of citizens to move freely throughout the country and even the right of a patient to reach hospital in time. It is said that the Thursday’s Bandh of Congress was very successful but it doesn’t had any effect on the Government and the Congress party knew it even. Then why does the Congress party installed this bandh? To harass people and publisize the alleged involvement of Bikramjit Singh Majithia in drug racket? Whatever may be the reason but the General Public got harassed.

BJP’s posthumous honour of Dalit leaders signifies vote bank politics

It is quiet clear from the strategy of BJP to honour four different Dalit leaders in the four parts of the country that BJP wants to take political benefit for 2014 General Elections by attracting the Dalit votes. BJP SC Morcha, National President, Sanjay Paswan accepted that if they get Political gain through these programmes there is nothing wrong in it. BSP strongly opposes the usage the name of their leader Kanshi Ram by BJP.

It is quiet clear from this programme of BJP to honour Kanshi Ram posthumously that the BJP is trying to attract the votes of Dalits. In the present scenario, Dalit vote bank of Punjab, mainly in Doaba region is dominated by BSP, which generally are not enough for the victory of BSP candidates but still play a major role to neutralise the effect of Dalit votes which would have gone to Congress in the absence of BSP. So, it is seemed that BJP has put their first step forward to attract the Dalit votes with the slogan of, “Kanshi Ram ji ke sapne adhure, Bhajpa sang hum karenge poore.”

BJP, the party which generally opposes the caste based politics, have now compromised their thinking for vote bank and understood the importance of caste and have been working to attract the Dalits to achieve their Lok Sabha target of 272. Sanjay Paswan believes that castiest regional parties are vanishing from the Indian politics. Do he signify that these parties are vanishing because now the National parties have formed the Caste based units? like SC Morcha of BJP or really the people are getting awared that they have started voting off the caste based politics. Whatever may be the truth, the common people are getting befooled.

Opinion : We cannot make an opinion that the culprit of an accident didn’t intended to do so

Police celebrates road safety week every year in order to aware people about the Road Safety Norms and rules. Generally it is believed that the people are ignorant about the traffic rules and they are needed to be educated. It is somehow, true in case of students who are new for using the roads while riding their two wheelers or four wheelers. It also contradicts the issuance of driving license to the people by the transport department without teaching them traffic rules and without taking driving test. First initiative must be taken regarding issuance of Driving license that it should be issued after teaching traffic rules and taking proper driving test. Then, the purpose of celebration of road safety week every year will be to reinforce the traffic rules and road safety norms into the citizens.

Thousands of people lose their lives in the road accidents every year in the world and even in Hoshiarpur hundreds of people lost their lives in road accidents in the year 2013, including a major accident on Hoshiarpur-Chintpurni road as a truck fallen down in a deep gorge resulting in the death of 20 people.
This opinion is generally made in the society that the culprits of the accidents didn’t intended to do so, but it will not be wise to make this opinion. A driver who generally drives the vehicle violating the traffic rules, being stubborn on road, impatient, etc; that driver generally drives the vehicle on the basis of a mathematical term probability. In case of such drivers, the probability of accidents is more than other drivers and on the other hand the probability of being saved is more than getting accidented. So, when any mishappening  happens in the form of an accident, why does an opinion is made about such drivers that they didn’t intended to do so, whereas, they knowingly commit such blunders on road.
