Hoshiarpur Police celebrated Road Safety Week from 11th January to
17th January and awared people about the road safety norms and traffic
rules. Even many other praiseworthy steps have been taken to prevent
accidents, post accident management and helping the citizens during any
inconvenience on road, like tyre puncture or vehicle failure. Hoshiarpur
Police is going to launch Helplines for ambulances and vehicle
mechanics shortly. Traffic committees have been formed in the
educational institutions comprising of teachers and students who would
look up the traffic system in the institution and outside the
institution. Same formula has been applied for the workers of the
factories in the district.
These all steps are welcoming steps for the road safety only if these steps are applied practically on the grass root level.
On the other hand, all these steps taken are incomplete without the
involvement of Transport department that issue driving licenses and pass
the motor vehicles. It is the ground reality that the driving test of
applicants for driving test is not conducted by the Motor Vehicle
Inspector and he signs the forms and the applicant is issued the
license. Till the right procedure of issuing the driving license is not
followed, road safety awareness does not have any importance. The
applicants of license should be taught about the traffic rules and road
safety norms in special compulsory classes before issuing the license
then the awareness becomes a continuous process.
